Nob Hill Gazette Anniversary Issue, “Getting Stoned”
On the occasion of the Nob Hill Gazette’s anniversary, we were curious to find out what the professionals have to say about new trends and old traditions in anniversary jewelry.
San Francisco jewelry designer Gigi Kaufman tells us that in 1922, Emily Post was the first person to compile a suggested anniversary gift list. Emily’s list didn’t include jewelry until the 30th anniversary, which is pearl, 35th coral, 40th ruby, 45th sapphire, 50th gold, 55th emerald, and 60th diamond
“As a happily married woman and a jewelry designer, I feel every anniversary is cause for celebration. Jewelry is very symbolic of the promises we make to our partner on our wedding day. Women can recite the history of each piece they have ever received throughout their marriage.”
